52 Drug Courts and the New Early Criminal Resolution Program
Due to the remarkable success of Utah's drug courts, a separate pilot program known as "Early Criminal Resolution" (ECR) was launched in February, 2011. The controversial program is intended to help identify and divert a much higher percentage of drug-related criminal defendants toward alternative prosecution. Largest Utah Online Child Pornography Sting Results in Dozens of Arrests
The Utah Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, in cooperation with local, state and federal law enforcement, recently announced that nearly 40 arrests resulted from its largest yet investigation of child pornography in Utah. Operation Frosty Lime Squeeze also resulted in the seizure of hundreds of computers, hard drives and cell phones.
Over one hundred other individuals remain under investigation, and those already arrested face an array of federal child pornography charges and Utah sex crimes charges.
